The teaching and learning that happens every single day in our classrooms is something we are very proud of,” says Superintendent Dr. Nisha Patel, who oversees three elementary schools, a middle school, one high school and an early childhood center.

A key highlight is Clayton’s robust academic curriculum and support for advanced coursework. The district has seen a steady increase in students taking advanced placement (AP) courses and excelling in AP exams. Additionally, the school promotes mental well-being, opening the first robust high school wellness center in Missouri, where students can receive support and where the district continues to make social-emotional wellness a priority for its students.

All of the work in the district begins with the end in mind—the district’s “Profile of the Clayton Graduate.” Clayton’s innovative programs offer students enriching experiences beyond traditional academics. The Global STEM Squad allows them to travel abroad for service-oriented learning, allowing them to tackle real-world problems and create solutions for communities. Meanwhile, the Catalyst Program partners students with local organizations to explore fields like business, entrepreneurship, humanities and education. These initiatives are dedicated to helping students challenge themselves and discover their potential. Athletics is another area where Clayton has seen tremendous growth, winning multiple state championships in recent years and promoting an approach to sports that also emphasizes excellence.
